After high school, Coach G began studying at UC Berkeley. That is where he became an integral part of the Cal Men's Basketball team as a student-manager. During his time at Cal, Coach G had the opportunity to learn directly from Coach Cuonzo Martin and the coaching staff. This experience not only deepened his understanding of the game but also allowed him to assist in the development of future professional basketball players, including Jaylen Brown, Ivan Rabb, Jordan Mathews, Roger Moute a Bidias, Kameron Rooks, Tyrone Wallace, Jabari Bird, and David Kravish.
Coach G’s love for basketball began at a young age, playing the game and being on the sideline watching his father coach. His passion for the sport led him to start coaching in 9th grade for San Bruno Summer Slam at the San Bruno Rec Center where he quickly found his calling. A leader, often serving as a "coach on the court", Coach G was a 3-year varsity player and 2-year captain. His playing career was cut short by a torn ACL, but his on-court leadership and knowledge of the game led him to want more out of basketball.

Coach G has also coached AAU basketball with both Legacy Hoops and Renegades Basketball Club, where he honed his skills in developing young talent. In 2022, he joined Capuchino High School as the JV Boys Basketball Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach. Over his three seasons at Cap, Coach G has helped the Boys Varsity team reach the playoffs twice and, during the 2024-25 season, coached the JV team to tie the most wins in school history with a 17-7 record.
Recognizing a gap in basketball development within his local community, Coach G founded Next Gen Hoops in San Bruno. His vision for Next Gen Hoops is to reinvigorate the basketball scene in a town where basketball has often taken a backseat to other sports. Through Next Gen Hoops, Coach G is dedicated to providing young players with the tools, coaching, and mentorship they need to grow as basketball players and individuals.
